In tonight's workshop, we'll be talking about TikTok, and how you promote your books, films, podcasts, series, products, and services on it. Estimates are that TikTok has up to 1.5 Billion users, so pretty much every kind of customer you might want to reach is on the platform.
TikTok is nothing but little videos with voice over and/or music. Most range in length from 20-60 seconds, with the "sweet spot" being 21 to 34 seconds.
In some respects, it's a perfect creative competition. So if you're good at dazzling the eye and communicating something really interesting in under 30 seconds, you'll do really well on the platform. That means filmmakers, authors, screenwriters, directors, actors, producers, designers, and folks who make a living by being creative have a real advantage on the platform.
You can pay to promote videos on the platform, but most people don't. You are allowed to tell people how to buy what you sell on the platform (every post can effectively be an ad if you like). So it can be an easier and less expensive way to sell things than facebook, twitter, youtube, etc.
It is properly "addictive", and in tonight's workshop we'll talk about why. People hang out on TikTok a lot, and if you start to use the app, you'll probably find you spend a lot of time there too.
TikTok does sell people, thing, and services pretty well . . .
If you haven't ventured into the new platform, and want a quick introduction into how to start using it, and what seems to make it work from a marketing standpoint, you'll find this an interesting workshop.
ALSO, even if you don't think you can stand adopting yet another social media platform, you may want to attend this workshop, because TikTok has some pretty sci-fi elements that will give you a glimpse of media (news and entertainment) in the years ahead. You've never seen an AI learn so fast . . .

MAY 25 @ 7PM Swiftly Vetting, Editing & Finalizing a New Screenplay Prior to Pitching It
Professional screenwriters have a hard time making a living if they churn out just one spec screenplay a year. In order to earn a good living from screenwriting, you need to be able to write screenplays quickly, and you need to know for sure they are good before you ship them out. In this workshop we review how to confirm your screenplay has a great character and plot, that actors like it, that audience like it, and there are no errors in spelling, grammar, and format that will turn people off. This process takes a month rather than a year, and gives you the confidence required to pitch your screenplay because you know, for a fact, that it’s good.
