In this important recorded workshop, you learn how to identify and contact name talent to work with you on films, events, and other projects. This is an important event for anyone working as a film, television, or event producer.

Every producer is told a thousand times a year that having "name talent" associated with their project will make it easier to fund, easier to get distribution for, and easier to make a profit on. This workshop dives deep on what it takes to get name talent on board and what you should have in hand before you make the approach. We will address:

  • What "name talent" is and why it varies a great deal from project to project.
  • What name talent can bring to your project and what it can't guarantee.
  • Development steps that need to be taken before you approach name talent, and how to choose what talent to approach first, second, third, etc.
  • Working with SAG/AFTRA and other unions and what it means to become "signatory" to their contracts, and why that's a requirement for working with name talent on most projects.
  • What happens if you approach name talent incorrectly, and how to avoid making the most common mistakes.
  • How to approach name talent correctly via email and/or phone, and what documents you need to have in hand before you do so.
  • Meeting with name talent and their representation, and the art of making a good first (second, third, and fourth) impression.
  • What happens when/if things go wrong.
  • How to get help in approaching name talent if you're uncomfortable doing it on your own.
  • When and how not to approach name talent "in the wild" or "through friends" if you want them to work with you.

This workshop comes with a collection of supporting recorded workshops that will help you understand how to interest and attach name talent and meet all their requirements during production including:
